Possessive Noun Scavenger Hunt

Since our spelling words these next two weeks revolve around singular and possessive nouns, today we began learning about possessive nouns through a fun, quick scavenger hunt, which took about seven minutes for most everyone to finish.

Students worked with their baseball partners to find cards that showed the objects belonging to someone, and they had to write the possessive noun form on their record sheet. For example, if they found "This notebook belongs to Gina" on a notebook, they would have to record "Gina's notebook" on their sheet. Here's another example: if they found the card "This eraser belongs to Kathy" taped to an eraser somewhere in the room, they would record "Kathy's eraser" on their sheet.
